Project story

STATEMENT

The scope of this contract is Medium Retrofit of the central part of GMIT CCAM Campus, Monivea Road, Galway City, using a high temperature heat pump to replace existing oil-fired heating system under the Energy Efficient and De-carbonisation Pathfinder Program EEDPP.

The Project will be in two phases Phase 1 will include Stages (i) – (ii b Inclusive), and proceeding to Phase 2 Stages ii a-V is subject to successful final approval by SEAI/HEA.

  • Focussed on ATU’s goal to achieve a cost optimal BER ‘B’ rating for the building
  • Delivering RES-H and emissions reductions of over 90% and 50% respectively
  • Upgrading fabric elements to reduce U-values to TDG-Part L (2017) s and improve building air permeability.
  • Replacing the current oil fuelled heating system with a High Temperature (HT) Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) and only using the existing oil boiler for peaking/backup.
  • Also includes upgrading the lighting and adding auto daylight and occupancy control together with the addition of solar-photovoltaic array to reduce daytime Maximum Import Capacity (MIC).
